Point Values in Autumn Cooking Contest
This is a peculiar situation. It makes sense that the Autumn Cooking Contest, the second of its kind, has higher requirements than the Spring one. I believe I won with a Fried Egg in that one. Here, however, there were surprising results. I do not know if the point values are constant or random, but it appears that they must be set in advance even if random, as I tried again and again and the only dish with sufficient point values to win was the Grilled Bluegill. Ironically, Grilled Rainbow Trout, made with Great Butter instead of regular Butter, was worth only 1200 Points.
Winning with the Grilled Bluegill at 2000 points, I received an Onyx Ore as a 'grand prize'. Although every one who participated was supposed to get a prize, I received nothing more, either as winner or even when I was third place or did not place at all... So the only participation prize is given the first time you enter the Contest which, for me, was in Spring.

When I reload, Hunter is there immediately after; I done got some good news. Sonate gave birth to a baby. Let's head over to the barn. I wanna show y'all the precious thing.
The mother has not increased in loyalty (notes) and the baby has only 1/2 musical note so I see no advantage to using the potion particularly apart from being cheaper than buying a cow.
Sam at 3 notes speaks of bringing his daughter to my farm. 'One of dese days I'm gonna bring my daughter ta yiour farm, Freyashawk. I'd like ta do dat...

Thursday, 21 Autumn: Hanna's Birthday
I have been giving almost every one Most Favourite Gifts on a daily basis. All the Eligible Bachelors have a full five Musical Notes... most of the Eligible Girls almost have the maximum. Hanna is not at five...

Tuesday, 19 Autumn: Earth and Ore Event, Mandrake Seeds Unlocked
I reloaded and reloaded until I had a total of 30 Mandrakes... kept getting a total of 29! Finally though, had it and sold them to Sam. This UNLOCKED Mandrake Seeds! Huzzah! Now I can focus on the Angel Lantern...
In one result, the six Crimson Seeds I had planted (reward) produced one Killer Tomato but I needed the Mandrake Seeds more I believe.
At 7.00 p.m. I found Andrea on my original farmland, (near side of the river), in the southwest corner in the same position that I often find Gilbert or April. Her Event triggered when I spoke to her.
Andrea: Hey, Freyashawk! Still hard at work? Don't overwork yourself! But I have to say, you've really turned this farm into something impressive! It's as if since you came, the whole place was suddenly spruced up with a colourful paint job! How can I put it... It's like you see the world in a whole different light than I do. I want to know more about you, Freyashawk! Tell me about yourself!

While i was walking about, looking for Andrea, I discovered something very useful! I had been afraid to cut down any trees on my farm in places where I remembered planting fruit trees but in fact, the game distinguishes between Trees YOU have planted and ones that crop up spontaneously. If it is a tree that you planted, you will see a prompt asking if you wish to use your axe on the tree! So you can cut down trees on your farm without any anxiety that you may have destroyed your precious fruit trees!

Of course I had to refuse to offer him the Blue Feather before I even could talk to the man... it's like that with all the Bachelors now. I need to decide upon one to marry. It will be either Tony or Luke for a start... like both of them. I would like Gilbert, apart from his desire for fish, except that his endless versifying is a little annoying. I will marry all of them in the end, but will not save the results. Gareth isn't too bad, once you get to know him. Hunter has that awful way of speaking.
Sadly, selling 15 Mandrake to Sam does not unlock the seeds so one must sell at least 20 I expect, and possibly 25. Will try to find out before the season's end.

Wednesday, 13 Autumn: Harvest Goddess 2nd Event
Yesterday I unlocked White Celery by selling 10 to Sam. I could not unlock Mandrake when I sold 10 to Sam, nor when I sold 12... I have a theory now. If the mutation is a 1st Generation Mutation, you can unlock it by shipping 10 but if it is a 2nd Generation Crop, you need more... whether 15 or 20 I do not know yet.
Today after giving a Strawberry to the HG, I experienced her next event:
HG: Tee-hee-hee! How nice of you to visit! Your Harvest Goddess has her ways of knowing just how hard you are working! Please keep being kidn of my Harvest Sprites! I know it's not easy to restore the lost memories... But if any one can do it, it's my plucky Freyashawk! Your Harvest Goddess has confidence in you! 7 Autumn, Naomi's Birthday
Cosmos is an autumn flower... got Giant Cosmos and Sunny Red a couple of days ago by planting it.
The Sunny Red is quite lovely. I suppose one would unlock the seeds still by selling to Sam, except I imagine it would be Iris that would sell them.
Today is Naomi's Birthday. I found her outside the bar a little after 1.00 p.m.

Jimmy, at 2 1/2 notes, now is outside my house on Thursday mornings. I notice that, as their affection levels increase, people grativate to my farm. Sam now visits. Brutus has been visiting for a very long time. Gareth is outside my house late at night on certain nights. Gilbert and Catherine are down by the river. Emily stands near the Sprite house. Will have to log the specific days.
The weather is set quite far in advance... so if you really wish to avoid a storm, go forward at least 6 days to see if there is a storm. I would imagine that, if you save your game BEFORE midnight, you can change the outcome of the weather a week in the future, but after 1.00 a.m., it will be set.
I did notice that the large boulders that drop are set as well at least a day in advance. Even when I reloaded, they still were there. So that is another problem...
At 1.00 p.m. on Thursday, Andrea is in the restaurant.

Wednesday, 29 Summer, Mad Mountain Event
If Andrea has over 3 full musical notes, you will find her at 4.00 p.m. or later to the right of Gilbert's Tent on Wednesday afternoon. Speak to her to initiate her event.
Andrea: How are you feeling? By the way, something surprising happened: that boulder vanished! And since the boulder's been gone, the mountain seems to have settled down a little. Removing the boulder seems to have released pent-up anger from the mountain. But what happened to the boulder? Where did it vanish to? I went down the hole, and found nothing... Hold on... Did you do something/ The expression on your face is one of shock... You DID do something... Forget it, never mind. Not everything can be explained in words. I'm going to get to the bottom of what makes this mountain tick! Just watch me!

I actually reloaded after experiencing this and forgot that I had done this... went into the mine and down to 75th floor.
On 29 Summer, I go back into the mine to make more cash for the Barn expansion. Come out, rush about making Gems from Ores, selling them to Sam, making more and finally ordering the Big Barn.
I then see Andrea near the tent again and speak to her. The Mad Mountain event triggered... So now I have it in reality.

Hunter's 4th Heart Event, Tuesday, 28 Summer
Unsaved because I am skipping ahead to see if I can harvest sufficient Brown carrots to unlock the seeds before the end of Summer.
In any case, I suspected it had to occur on one of his day's off, and I was right. Found Hunter between my Animal Barn and Chicken Coop early Tuesday afternoon and spoke to him to initiate his Fourth Heart Event. The earliest you can find him will be 11.00 a.m. I believe.
Huh... Howdy, Freyashawk. Work been keepin' y'all busy? Don't work y'all's fingers t'th'bone. ,... When I come 'round 'yall's farm, I recollect my days bein' a young'un... There were tons a' cows on this farm back then. Big 'uns ... too An' I was buddies with 'em... Those're some mighty precious memories... But somehow, they done slipped muh mind for a spell... Then y'all settled in on this here farm, an' I started in t' rememberin' ... Much obliged... I'm happy y'all settled down here, Freyashawk... I'm glad t' have met y'all... But... I ain't so good wirth words. Maybe.. Maybe that gets on y'all's nerves, huh? Why do y'all put up with muh tongue-tied ways, anyway...?

When I leave the house, I find April down i the southwest corner of my original field. As soon as I speak to her, I experience her event.
April: Mmm-hee.... H-Hello, Freyashawk... When I was little, I... I played in a field of flowers... that used to be here... I-It's not here anymore, but... I w=wish I could go see it again... s-somehow... N-Not just by myself, but to... to show it to everybody in town... I want them to see it, too... I want to fill the town with flowers and... and make it like one big field of flowers...

Saturday, 25 Summer: The Second House Upgrade and Zucchini Seeds
Another red letter day as it were. I awakened late but had a good harvest of some Angel Lanterns, a Princess Eye and a Great Princess Eye, which means that summer would be the natural season for the Princess Eye. I had a Zucchini as well so took 6 of them to Sam to see if I could unlock the seeds. To my chagrin, I was able to unlock them by selling only 3! This means I could have unlocked them a few days ago, I expect. I never dreamed the requirements would be THAT low!
To my delight, both Sheep were ready to be sheared. Very disappointing a few days ago to shear both of them and have a total then of 19 Wool only, one short of the number needed for the house upgrade.
I went to the Forge then to speak to Brutus.
By the way, Andrea is in the Restaurant on Saturday morning before noon. Hunter is up near the Spa on Saturday but that is not the location of his final Heart Event. His level is more than sufficient but I need to find the place and time for it.
Giant House: 400,000G, 20 Wool, 50 Hardwood, 3 Adamantite
And now my full stupidity is made manifest, because when I look at the pulldown menu for the Wool requirement, I see the following options:
Wool: 20
Great Wool: 15
Ultiamte Wool: 10
Fluorite: 5
Opal: 5
I could have used the Gems ages ago!!!!

23 Summer: Fishing Contest
Sam is in my house at the crack of dawn.
Sam: Good morning, Freyashawk. Today is da day of da fishing Contest! Did you know dat? Youse gets points from all da fish youse can catch in a set time. Whoever gots da most points wins! If youse wants ta enter de constest, come talks ta me between 10 s.m. and 2.59 p.m. Heh heh heh... I'll be in da town square. Hope youse decides ta join in!
In one file, this is the only event, but in another, the chick hatches. So it definitely is random when the chick will hatch.
Everybodies! Nice work out dere! Time for da closin' ceremony! Looks like everybpdoes caught demselves a lotta fish dis time... It was a tight contest, yeah? So I'm gonna announce da results! Hunter's Sick Cow Event, Tuesday 21 Summer
On Emily's Birthday, 21 Summer, I went to deliver a gift to Andrea in front of the Bar at night and then, on a chance, went to visit Hunter for the second time that day. This was after 9.00 p.m. When I entered his house, I spoke to him and triggered his event... been trying to find the location for days!
Hunter: Shucks... ...Muh cow's gone and got sick. And th' reg'lar medicine ain't workin' like it ought... I'm takin' care a'th'ol' girl as best i can but... things ain't lookin so good... I wish I'd a=noticed she was sick a mite sooner...

Hunter: Y'all gonna help me tend t'mush sick cow...? Now that's right neighbourly of y'all... Muh cow's this-a-way...
The screen darkens and we are outside in the paddock in the rain.
Hunter: It's kinda like a cold, puttin' it in human terms, but she's runnin' a mighty high fever... She don' look well at all.. Y'all can see clear as day that she's a=sufferin'... Freyashawk... I appreciate y'all's help... I ... feel better havin' y'all 'round... One way or another, we gotta help muh poor cow...

I caught another Rainbow Trout and another Alligator Gar on the peninsula last night... I suspect you only can catch the Gar at night and at this location but need to test it.
The usual Crucian Carp, mosquitofish, Bluefish and Goby can be caught at any location. I never did catch another Perch in Spring but I wasn't trying that hard. I know I caught the first one on my farm in the morning.

Well, I came out of my house to find that one of the Squash Seeds I planted (not unlocked, reward for Memory) had matured into a Giant Squash! I had to save THAT result of course, even though all the other crops I harvested today were less than stellar.

I finally am able to find Gilbert at the southwest corner of my farm on Thursday morning... went there at 8.00 a.m. after harvesting my first Durum Wheat.

A memory of fishing here emerges, a picture of my grandpa into my mind surges... But a recollectiion of humble events, yet deeply precious to me were those moments... Monday, 13 Summer
Emily is near the Sprite Tree at 10.00 a.m. on Monday. Yesterday for some reason, Brutus was on my farm near my house at 4.00 p.m.
I speak to her to initiate an event.
Emily: What's up, Freyashawk? Your farm work seems to keep you totally busy! But chcek this out! It's about that veggie bread I came up with! I had my mom taste it, and she said sh'll officially add it to the restaurant's menu! I'm still tweaking the recipe, so it may be a while until we're serving it, though. Even though I still have a TON to learn about cooking, I'm going to show my mom one day that I'm a real chef!

11 Summer and Fireworks Festival
I experienced Catherine's 'First Friend' Event this morning.
With great difficulty I ahve avoided the Fireworks Festival invitation unti now. Found Tony at home and spoke to him. The first option:

So I had to do THAT first...
Then came:
Invite to the Fireworks Festival, so I did... will not save this.
Tony: You, um... Are invitin me to the Fireworks Festival/ I mean, I ... don't have any plans or anything... So um, yeah, let's go together. I'll come pick you up that day at your house. So please be at home between 5 p.m. and 5.49 p.m, okay? I'm, um, not sure if I'm more excited or nervous to go with you, but... the fireworks will be great!
In the afternoon today, Hunter is outside near the plaza, Tabitha is outside near the flower stall, Gareth is in his house, Luke is outside his house. If I speak to either Luke or Gareth, the first thing is the option to offer the Blue Feather. Gilbert is in the bar at 8.00 p.m. I cannot offer to Hunter or Gilbert because I haven't had their events.

Yesterday, it rained. Could not find Gilbert on my farm for his event. I gave all the bachelors gifts, however.

Gareth: This farm is a remarkable place. The people of the town seem to have an effection for it also. ... Witches and wizards learn many things under their designated mentor... Once they become independent, they take up a position near a human community to offer aid. At least, that is what my mentor taught me to do. And yet, the element of relating to humans is very onerous to me.... I find it exhausting... But recently, I've finally started to understand why my mentor wanted me to interact with people. Since you and I started conversing... How can I put it? I feel that my world has grown wider. It is a fact that closing myself off in my own small world presents me from discovering some things... I believe there IS some way tor me to rleate to people, but not the same as you and that witch do it...

Got first Great Green Peppers and Red Pepper. Went back to Floor 55 of the mine... need a bit of extra cash. Still collecting wool for the Huge House... have 400,000G. but have spent a great deal really.

1 Summer Harvest God Birthday and Emily Bread Event
After all my work and harvesting and catching my first Goby, I had to reload the day because I did not make it to the Harvest God in time to wish him Happy Birthday... so
Still got one Mystic Herb in the morning and the two Red Zeppelins. Went up the mountain and experienced the Harvest God birthday event, then gave him an Apple for good measure. Came back down, bought some seeds and Animal Feed, giving Hunter milk, then giving Iris and April both Marguerites. Went into the Restaurant and gave Emily a Broccoli and Hanna an Onion, left and came back and as soon as I entered, experienced an Event.
Sally: YOu want us to taste something? Like what? I want to know!
Emily: Hmm=dee=hmmm! You both said that you hate vegetables, right?
Jimmy: Vegetables taste like dirt!
Emily: That's why I created a dish especially for the two of you! Go ahead! Try some!
Jimmy and Sally both with music.
Jimmy What IS this stuff?! The bread's a weird colour.
Sally: Ooh! This is yummy! Are you sure it really has veggies in it?
Emily: It's bread with vegetables kneaded into the dough! Now you two can eat veggies without whining!
Sally: I guess... And the colours are pretty... I guess I like vegetables now JUSGT a little bit.
The screen darkens and now Emily faces me.
Emily: Hey, Freyashawk! Were you watching the whole time? Why didn't you say something?! Did you see the reaction those kids had? They're both known veggie-haters but they liked it! So I thought about what soome one might actually want to eat, y'know? And I realised that even though cream IS super-delicious, I was going just by my own taste. And when I was a kid, I hated veggies too, so I could understand how Sally and Jimmy felt. When you get up the guts to try something you don't like, sometimes you find it isn't actually too bad. So I realised their veggie-hating was my angle! And I cooked up a dish to work on that angle! I'm so glad they actually liked it! Next, I 'll have my mom try it! I know you're also working hard to become a better cook, but i'm not letting you get ahead of me!

30 Spring, Tony's Event
Went to the Forge. Spoke to Tony... did not have to give him anything to initiate the next event.
Tony: Oh hi, Freyashawk... What's going on? Did you need to ask my poppa something?

Now in the square, lots of people staring upward at it, including Iris, April, Sam, Emily and us.
Emily: When I rang it as usual to test it, it didn't have its usual sweet tone AT ALL! I don't know what's wrong with it and I don't know anybody who would be able to fix it...
Tony: ... If there's a crack in the bell, even repairing the crack might not restore the sound to how it was. I guess... we'll ask my poppa what to do about it...
??? Is not being business for Brutus. Tony, you try fix!

Briutus enters square: Maybe delicate work like bell is being best kind of work for you. Tony can do. I put job for you.
Tony: B=But... P=Poppa. I ... Freyashawk... what should I do...? ... I g-guess I'll give it a try...

Tony: Uh... I thnk the bell's okay... Thaere was just something stuck inside it, I guess... It just needs to be cleaned out... and have the clapper adjusted... and it should sound right again. But... the bell's really old... The metal's gotten brittle so eventually... it'll break... ... But until it does break, I'll work on trying to make a replica of it. Uh... I'll probably make a lot of screw ups at first, and my poppa will yell at me... But I know you'll be giving me encouragement, Freyashawk. Thanks.

29 Spring: Big Trouble

Rowan: Freyashawk! There's trtouble! Big trouble! You know that huge boulder that used to be by the Harvest Goddess' Spring? Just now i heard a huge noise and... the huge boulder had vanished! Now there's a big hole in the ground where the boulder used to be! Please... you gotta come take a look!

Went up to the pillars when I finished my animal chores and found Rowan there. Event initiated even though I was riding the horse.
Rowan: See how big the hole is...? And it's pitch black inside! I can't see a thing...! There seems to be hot air blowing up out of it... What could be down at the bottom? ... That reminds me of something that I heard... about some kind of king that once ruled the mountain.... But one day, he was so angered that he shut himself up deep down beneath the mountain.. The story I heard didn't say what he got so mad about... but maybe that king is down in this hole! If you went down the hole, you might find him there!
