Friday, 10 Summer

Yesterday, it rained.  Could not find Gilbert on my farm for his event.  I gave all the bachelors gifts, however.

This morning, after 8.00 a.m., I found Luke outside.

Friday, 10 Summer: Luke is at my house, in front of the well.

Luke  Hey, Freyashawk!  What's up?  I should have known I'd find you out here taming the land all by yourself!  Har har har!  nYour farm has really captured my interest! You've got this beautiful river... These big trees...  Being here, anybody would be able to forget their troubles!  So the next time somebody comes to me with their troubles, I'll bring 'em here for a mood-booster!  But that's all for other people... it doesn't solve my own troubles...

Luke:  Really...?  You mean that?  Thanks.  If you come straight out and flatter me like that, you're goinna make me blush! ... Talking with people about their troubles isn't the same as solving their troubles for them.  In the end, people have to decide for themselves what they're going to do.  So, maybe me listening doesn't actually make a difference in people's lives..  ... But the people who to talk with me at the bar sure look like they feel better afterwards!  Even though I personally don't have any real 'troubles', per se... Maube that makes me a phony...?  Still, I certainly do have plenty of experience in talking things over with people in all situations.  I fonly I could experinece personal growth in the process... lke they do by overcoming troubles...  ...Yeah, that's the ticket!  I can talk with anybody about anything!  Har har har!  Oh, man... You're the only one I can share my nutty thoughts with, Freyashawk!

11 Summer:

Stayed up past 3.00 a.m. watering crops.  Awakaned with full stamina but green face.

Catherine down by the lower well this morning.  I speak to her for her event.

Catherine:  Well!  We meet again, Freyashawk.  Good-day.  You, -er - appear to be at leisure.  Would you be so kind as to... er, listen to what I have to say?  Ever since I was little, I... I have been atrocious at making small talk with people...  ... And due to my high-handed way of speaking, I have been bereft of friends...  So... I set my mind to make myself a more charming conversationalist by taking employment with Luke!  However, since doing so, my way of speech has not improved... I conveyed this information to Luke.  And he recommended that I should begin by... by finding one friend to whom I could speak freely...  Therefore, er, being such... that is to say...  Freyashawk!  Would you be inclined to be that friend for me?!  Well?!
